<ol>
<li>Creating effective training materials which can be used by the herders to watch at their own pace</li>
<li>Introducing new technology and innovation component to the existing project. This technology component would he the education platform provided by NOMADEDU ( www.nomadedu.org) .</li>
<li>Getting feedback from herders on what they would like to see in training modules in the future.</li>
</ol>
<p><strong>What is the benefit of this technology ?</strong></p>
<p>Education Hotpost is a platform just like an online university which traditionally supports self paced learning . However unlike other online platform which are dependent on internet infrastructure , the education hotspot is a ultra mobile , self-contained wireless and server platform which can be setup anywhere in the world as long as there is electricity . This hotspot serves most of the learning needs for the community , it encourages community which have had computers but no content to start connecting to the hotspot to access education material.  This is a perfect tool to making education and content accessible to all.</p>
<p><strong>How will this help herders in this project ?</strong></p>
<p>Currently , most of the herders need to come into an Aimag center to get training on new skills . This involves consultants traveling from Ulaanbaatar to countryside as well as Herders from their soums to the center. It amounts to a lot of travel cost and limited resources in terms of training , because when the consultants go back after the training , none of the material is accessible to the herders for the future in any dynamic form.</p>
<p>This is where the Hotspots come in , we create training modules in partnerships with consultants for the herders and go once to the soums and setup the hotspots. Once setup , the herders can  , at their own time come and revisit the training that was created . This translates into sustainable training materials for the community.</p>
<p>The current exercise was a pre-assessment to a future visit in which NomadEDU NGO will be visiting 4 soums with a Mobile Hotspot .  During this assessment , the herders were introduced to the hotspot and the benefits of it. A small demo was provided highlighting the capability of accessing these materials over their phones and computers. We got positive feedback from the herders on what new training would help them perform their day-to-day activities and improve their knowledge on felt production and supply.</p>

<p>In summer of 2011, the <a title="http://hmhco.com/content/hmh-innovation-fund" href="http://hmhco.com/content/hmh-innovation-fund">HMH Innovation Fund</a> sponsored the <a title="globaleducationchallenge.com" href="http://globaleducationchallenge.com/" target="_blank">Global Education Challenge</a>, a special competition that invited individuals to submit game-changing ideas with the potential to dramatically improve K–12 education worldwide.</p>
<p>Our ultimate goal was to source truly original ideas that could become tangible tools to address three critical education areas: student learning, family engagement, and teacher effectiveness. We hosted the GEC on a collaborative online platform where the public evaluated each idea and engaged in valuable dialogue to help our <a title="https://ideas.hmh.spigit.com/Page/judges" href="https://ideas.hmh.spigit.com/Page/judges">panel of expert judges</a> identify the ones with the most potential.</p>
<h2>Meet the Winners</h2>
<p>We’re pleased to announce that the judges have finally selected three groundbreaking ideas from the GEC’s community of innovators — each of which will take home a piece of <a title="https://ideas.hmh.spigit.com/Page/thechallenge" href="https://ideas.hmh.spigit.com/Page/thechallenge" target="_blank">$250,000 in cash and prizes</a>. Read on to learn how these individuals are helping to improve student outcomes across the globe — both inside and outside the classroom.</p>

<p><em>Education Hotspots</em> proposes programs to provide mobile hotspots and free educational courseware to underdeveloped regions with no internet infrastructure. The idea was developed by Neil Dsouza, who is currently living in Mongolia and working to establish education hotspots in remote towns. With new educational content constantly becoming available digitally, a solution for internet infrastructure is vital to global education.</p>
